Miscellaneous info from e-mail

I am also trying to research the Kerley/Cearley/Carley lines. My line goes from William >Henry b. 1632 -came with father before 1638 father noted to be in Hingham MA prior to this-his brother William and Uncle Edmond came over on the ship Confidence of London from Dorset Ashmore England 1638. No other mention of Edmond can be found thought to have died on ship or shortly after arrival. William jr. m Anna King Subury 1664-will noted his military books and sword given to his only brother Henry- thought to have had no issue- Henry married first Elizabeth White-she died at Rowlandson garrison Indian attack -2nd wife Elizabeth Ward. >Bartholomew b. 1660 at Sudbury MA. married Hannah ?>William b. 1719 Marlborough MA m. Martha Patsy Carter>William b. 1756 Marlborough m. Rachael Neal >Larkin b. Halifax VA. m. Mary Barnes>Solomon b.1810 Wilkes Co. NC. m. Mary Laws>Clement Walter b. Garland Co. Arkansas m. Elvira Parks>Clement Walter b. Garland Co.,AR. m. Vela Electra Pittman>Clarence Edward b. 1933 Garland Co.,Ar. m. Sandra Gail Curlee>then me Elizabeth Cearley-Moore. Your Henry Kerley is thought to have been the son of Henry b. 1632. In the attack of Rowlandson garrison Elizabeth and sons Joseph and William are killed. Many list Henry as also having died but other claim that he did not. Batholomew is also a mystery. Not much is know about him but that he is listed in Cpt. Howe's garrison at the time. In Henry's will he does't list Bartholomew or Henry only his daughters--still trying to have proof the Henry jr. did survive and the Bartholomew also was a son. Bartholomew's name has been noted to have been spelled Kerley Carlise and Carley. His son William has been noted to have named spelled Carley except on a land sell he and his wife wrote and signed the name Kerley. Some of Bartholomew's sons spelled the name Kerley and the line maintained the spelling. Others such as my line from son William spelled it Carley later to be spelled Cearley pronouned K-ear-lee rhymes with dearly. --- Elizabeth Cearley-Moore

My Kerley's went from NC to Tenn. and on to Missouri My GG Grandfather was William James Kerley, I think he died in the civil war, my G Grandfather was James Decatur Kerley, he changed the spelling to Kerlee about 1888 when he moved his family to Montana from Missouri. I was born in Montana in 1933. I've been working on my tree since 1977 and the Kerley's have really been giving me fits.If you have anyone asking about this line I would sure like to hear from them. Thanks for your time. --- Phil Kerlee

I am related through the Kerley line. Henry Kerley and Sarah Garrett are my 5th Generation Grandparents. The Kerley line runs on my Fathers side and starts in Johnson County Illinois. But on my mothers side I also am related to the Kerleys. Eleven generations from me on my mothers side is the grandparents John How and Elizabeth Ward of Sudbury Mass.. When John Howe was killed, by the Indians in King Phillips war in the attack on Sudbury, his widow married Henry Kerley who was the son of William Kerley and Ann White. The Kerley known as Captain Henry Kerley, who married Elizabeth White, and whose wife and children were killed in the attack on Sudbury Mass..
Also on the generations listed for Henry Kerley back to William Kerley I have Henry Kerley as the 7th Generation from William. Below are the generations I have from William to Henry Kerley who married Sarah Garrett. It is a rough outline and has no childen for most. The line has not be proven but is a guide. I have looked at the history of Sudbury and it list the Kerley family as William married to a Anne but it says her name is King not White. She was the daughter of Thomas King. I also have information on the White Genealogy and it only shows Capt. Henry Kerley and Elizabeth White and shows no White marrying William Kerley.
My Simmons ancestor who was suppose to travel with the Kerley family from Ireland is Thomas Simmons whose daughter Mary Polly Simmons married Lewis Kerley. I am related through Thomas Simmons three times. Another Simmons who has a relation through Thomas makes it four times, One on each side of my family. Thomas was suppose to come from Ireland with his parents William Simmons and Elizabeth Unknown. This is Oral history and now believe it to not be true. If William Kerley came from Ireland in 163? then it could not be true. My Thomas Simmons was born about 1767, that leaves a 130 year difference. --- Greg Simmons
