About WebCatt

Who is WebCatt and why is it spelled with two t's?
WebCatt's story:
I came from spun
stardust and shadows,
woven with a weft of moonbeams and a warp of memories,
a knit kitten in a cat net.
The two t's suit me to a tea!
[ well, a cat could
wear two tee-shirts ---
one upside down to allow for the tail... ]

Amy's version:
I weave webs and I was born in the year of the Yin Metal (Silver) Cat.
WebCat and Web-Cat were already in use,
so I doubled the T.
Besides, I like the way webcATT and ATTic interlace...

The Facts: A Six-Month Course in Webweaving
June 2, 1996 - Skip signed me up with Netcom and I sent my first e-mail message.
July 2 - I created my first web page - Amy's Attic - using Netcom's Personal Page template.
July 3 - I edited my page using the online HTML editor window.
I wanted to put my Attic in Attica, so I chose a number in Athens at Geocities and "moved in" using their Personal Page template.
August 2 - MTS (Multi-Technical Services) asked me to build their website, using FrontPage.
August 11 - I published the first MTS website at Mindspring.
September and October - I wanted to put my own images in Amy's Attic but I couldn't upload files to Netcom. I added links to my Geocities Athens "Townhouse" Attic at appropriate places in my Netcom "Country House" Attic. I learned a lot about HTML and cut-and-paste by using the on-line free-form editors. Neither site had FrontPage interfaces.
November 18 - I became frustrated with Mindspring's lack of response (it's a long story) so I moved the MTS website to Instant Technologies.
December 25 - Skip signed me up with Webs Unlimited and my very own world wide web Domain.
December 27 - I published the first edition of WebCatt.com.

Since then, I've moved WebCatt and MTS to servers at Pair Networks, and I no longer have a Geocities website (don't need it). I continue to learn new webstuff.
This all might lead you to think this is my first exposure to the world of computing, but I've been using computers since we got our first TRS-80 Model I in 1979. It had a whopping 4K of memory and funny rectangular graphic "pixils" and used a monochrome monitor (no fancy colors to work with).
Skip was a BBS System Operator (Sysop) before there was such a thing as an Internet Webmaster. He ran Mr. Wizard's Software Works in Jacksonville NC for several years in the 1980's. It was the first freely accessible BBS in Onslow County. I made lots of graphics for him using keyboard characters and those crazy rectangles.
In July 1997, I started my own Internet Service business, IQHost.
Update:
In October 2002, we moved our webs to a new server farm at
